Never had a chance to update on what I did this summer because hunting down the recordings turned out to be a way messier ordeal than I anticipated… BUT I finally have a working recording! Was lucky enough to take a two-week long, 8 hours a day (usually more) composition workshop with some of the greatest names in the brass world.
Here’s Piece for Quintet, composed for Summer Arts 2017 at CSUMB and recorded by the Principal Brass of the New York Philharmonic (!!!)
Recorded by The Principal Brass of the New York Philharmonic:
Matthew Muckey – Trumpet 1
Ethan Bensdorf – Trumpet 2
Richard Deane – French Horn
Joe Alessi – Trombone
Alan Baer – Tuba
Special thanks to these musicians and to CSU Monterey Bay for the workshop and recording facilities, as well as instructors Ray Burkhart, Tony Plog, and Eric Ewazen, and course coordinator Brian Wilson.
